The F8A engine is 797cc with 62 mm x 66 mm bore and stroke size. The cylinder head design is SOHC 8-valve. This was Suzuki's first four-stroke car engine and also the oldest in the family.

Part of the engine cylinder head forms the top portion of the combustion chamber where the ignition of the fuel-air mixture takes place. The shape and volume of this chamber are crucial for efficient combustion.
